2020-2021 Fall Re-entry Plan

July 16, 2020

Last night the Pearl City School Board unanimously supported the plan that is attached below for the re-entry plan for the Fall of 2020-2021. This plan is over 20 pages and still does not adequately capture all of the complexities and logistical decisions that need to be made in the coming weeks. There may be areas that the district adjusts between now and August 21st. So, the district will need your continued attention and support throughout this very unusual summer. However, we believe we have aligned the plan with our top priorities: Employee and Student Safety Measures, Health Guidelines, Student Academic Success, Support for Families

Once you review the re-entry plan for the Fall of 2020 and as the district moves forward it is vitally important that you take this, approximately one minute, student enrollment form survey  https://forms.gle/2PM6vj96YXNGEVU47 The plan, as articulated below, is contingent upon the other health agencies, governor, and health of the school district. The district would be asking that as a parent you commit to either in-person or remote learning for your student at this time. Your information will allow us to continue to plan for the upcoming Fall. The attached plan will articulate all of the specifics you should need to make your decision- and if it does not, please reach out to the building administrators or myself and we will gladly walk you through any questions.

For convenience, I will also place an Executive Summary of the plan that was shared with the school board for quick reference. That said, it is extremely important that you read the document to understand what the beginning of the next school year will look like. Please also sit down with your student and explain what the plan for the beginning of the school year looks like as well.

If the district does not have results from you on the mandatory enrollment form survey by July 27th staff will begin to call you in order to secure your answer. We apologize in advance for this blunt request, but we must know within the next couple of weeks the number of remote and in-person learners so we can create a logistical base that will allow us to operate safely and successfully.

In closing, again thank you for the support and your continued attention and passion on this topic. The district has heard your suggestions and believe we have constructed a plan that recognizes the input we have received.

Sincerely

Dr. Schiffman
